2024 Summer Events Recap

2024 Summer Events Recap

Throughout the year, InVision Foundation works to raise money in order to provide the people supported by InVision with experiences and opportunities that aid their personal journeys as they discover their passions, interests, and their versions of meaningful lives. With programs such as the See Beyond Fund, Personal Enrichment Grants, Meaningful Lives Grants, and Community Connections donations, the Foundation is able to support a wide range of happenings – such as company events, vacations or trips, hobbies, health care needs, and more.

As we enter the month of September and the weather begins to cool down a bit, it’s a great time to reflect and reminisce on all the fun had during the summer months. Let’s dive into a recap of InVision’s 2024 summer happenings, as funded by the Foundation!

Spring Fling Dance

In May of this year, InVision’s eastern region held a Spring Fling Dance at our office in Reading, PA. People supported and staff came together for spring decorations, refreshments, snacks, a DJ, and of course, lots of dancing.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Marking InVision’s 21st Annual Ballgame, our western region’s 2024 day the ballpark was one to remember. On May 23, a group of people supported, DSPs, office staff, and members of our executive team came together at PNC Park to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates play head-to-head with the San Francisco Giants. Most of the group was also sporting matching, limited-edition t-shirts designed for the occasion.

Although the Pirates were unable to secure the win, everyone had an absolute blast with great weather, and time well spent together!

Kennywood Day

On July 10, the Foundation provided our western region with 50 admission tickets and 100 catered lunch tickets for people supported, DSPs, and program staff members to enjoy a day at Kennywood Park. The sun was certainly shining bright as personnel from InVision soaked up some rays, shared lunch together, hopped on their favorite rides, and adventured around the park for our annual Kennywood Day.

For Heather, a person supported by InVision, Kennywood Park is one of her favorite places – so much so that the Foundation purchases Platinum Season Passes for her and her direct support staff each year. Heather has Kennywood’s schedule detailed on her calendar, and routinely visits the park to enjoy concerts, rides, daredevil acts, and capturing photos and videos on her iPad of her favorite memories.

With her love for Kennywood, Heather is just one of the people supported who greatly enjoyed InVision’s Kennywood Day this past summer – spending time with her friends and support staff at InVision in a place that makes her happy.

“I really like Kennywood,” Heather said. “I like a lot of stuff they have! The Spinvasion ride is my favorite.”

Heather even has a trip to Kennywood’s Fright Night already planned and spoke with Kennywood staff about participating in a parade next year.

A huge thank you to the Edith L. Trees Charitable Trust for funding our Kennywood Day Community Connections event again this year!

Knoebels Day

Coinciding with Kennywood Day on July 10, our eastern region also enjoyed a day of fun at Knoebels Amusement Park. The Foundation supplied 85 tickets for rides, food, and/or games to be enjoyed by all in attendance.

Bruce Springsteen Concert

In our 2023 Summer Events Recap, we mentioned the cancelation of the Bruce Springsteen concert due to Bruce’s personal medical needs. After a year of recovery time, we are happy to share that the concert was held on August 15 this year. With 17 tickets secured, people supported and their DSPs were able to rock out together among other concerts goers!

Reading Fightin’ Phils

Closing out our 2024 Summer Events, people supported and staff from our eastern region enjoyed their 3rd Annual Ballgame with a night at the ballpark to watch the Fightin’ Phils play the Erie SeaWolves. The Fightin’ Phils put on an exciting game and secured a win of 4-2.

InVision is beyond grateful to all our donors who make these events possible each year, as well as our continued efforts in providing the people supported by InVision with such opportunities. Thank you to all of our individual, corporate, Foundation, and vendor donors – you are so greatly appreciated!
