A Labor of Love: Mike's Garden

Tomatoes, corn, squash, peppers, and watermelon.

These are just some of the delicious foods Mike is growing in his personal garden this summer.

Back in 2019, Mike talked with his DSPs—Nick Yadrick, Phil Okoth, and Ralph Schlechter—about his desire to start a vegetable garden in his backyard. He really loved tomatoes, and he wanted to grow some of his own.

Fast forward to this past spring, and Mike’s garden has grown exponentially. Thanks to the constant support from his DSPs—and more time to tend to the garden courtesy of a statewide stay-at-home order—Mike sees his garden flourish more each day. He’s happy to share the yields with his DSPs, his mom, and the local wildlife that stop by every now and again.

Nick, Phil, and Ralph are doing an awesome job helping Mike manage his garden and keep it thriving. Way to go, guys!
