One of the most important things we can do as people is take moments to reflect on and
celebrate the things going on within our daily lives. At InVision Human Services, we provide supports and programs necessary for people who experience disabilities in their pursuit of meaningful lives. As such, we strive to celebrate wins of the people we support – no matter how big or small – as these are defining moments that help shape who they are, and what is significant as they build fulfilling lives unique to them.
Last month, we shared
an article discussing cross-departmental collaboration that leads to pathways of success among the people we support; highlighting Terry, who recently received an award from his community for overcoming life challenges. Alongside Terry’s recent accomplishment, there is much more to celebrate at InVision. Check out what a few more of the people we support have been up too!
Lori’s Move

Lori, a person supported by InVision since 2018, recently moved into a new home in March 2025. As a family-oriented person who has a great relationship with her mom and sister, Lori had previously traveled over an hour and a half to visit with them once or twice a week. Prompted by the desire to live closer to her loved ones, Lori made a request to the InVision team for a living space closer to her family, as the stress of the travel was becoming too much.
Upon the request from Lori, InVision team members from various departments at InVision – including her team of direct support professionals (DSPs), program supervisors,
behavior specialists, and our Facilities and Health Services departments – came together to make this dream a reality. Amid the house-hunting process, Lori was eager to be closer to her family, and was willing to downsize to make it happen. However, when Lori’s current residence became available – meeting all of Lori’s needs and only a 25-minute drive from her family – she expressed excitement about the space, and everyone at InVision knew that this was the house for her.
While there are still things to be done in the moving process, Lori is beyond excited to be closer to her family, and says the move is going well. She loves her new space and decorating to transform her new house into her new home. Together, Lori and her family are building a new normal; communicating and spending more time together and are even planning for a summer family cookout at Lori’s new residence.
“I love the way InVision departments really pulled together to make the move happen for Lori,” Sarah Kahando, residential operations manager who has worked with Lori since 2021, shared. “It looks like a small thing, but this is really big for Lori. It warms my heart knowing it’s not just me – everyone has brought ideas to make this work, even from a director level. It really speaks to who we are at InVision.”
Congratulations on the new move, Lori! Your friends at InVision are so excited for you, and hope to hear further about the move, time with family, and more in the future.
Tara’s Travels
Last year, we shared an article featuring
Tara’s love for travel, and her past trip to Orlando. We are excited to share that Tara is still getting out there to do what she loves most: traveling to experience new activities, cultures, and communities. Upon saving up for a new trip and financing it herself, Tara’s most recent travels took her on a two-week long vacation to California and Mexico in March of this year.

After a few days of relaxing at the beach, enjoying the sunrise and sunset, and exploring the boardwalk in California, Tara and DSP Donna Kwao, boarded an eight day cruise in Mexico. While on the boat, Tara and Donna enjoyed the casino, comedy shows, bingo, the club, and shopping. On top of all the activities on board the boat, Tara also signed up for excursion adventures; including an opportunity to swim with dolphins. While a bit intimidated at first, Tara was quick to adjust and had a blast in the water with her new aquatic friends – a favorite part of the trip, along with experiencing a cruise ship.

In addition to her travels, Tara has been active in her community in various other ways – from kayaking and camping trips, to church revivals and sleepovers. She is also celebrating triumphs within her personal wellness journey; as she has displayed great resilience among mental health challenges over the past few years. Tara is even returning to a mental health program she was previously a part of to share her experiences with mental health in hopes to help others.
Tara’s success can be summed up beautifully in her response to being asked what she has been up too: “traveling and living the life I want to live!”
Keep up the great work, Tara! We are so proud of all you have accomplished, and your bravery in sharing your personal story, successes, and travels with others.
Jacob’s EMT Classes
Jacob, a person supported within our
Employment Supports program, recently enrolled in EMT courses at his local community college as a prerequisite for his pursuit of becoming a firefighter. Jacob currently serves as a volunteer in this role with two of his local fire stations. Upon being awarded funds for continued education through InVision Foundation’s grant programs, Jacob is actively working toward his career goals with much success; passing his first two exams with ease and prepping for future learning ahead!
Welcoming Terra

We are beyond excited to welcome Terra, InVision’s newest person supported, who successfully joined InVision in April 2025! Terra is officially supported by InVision’s
Residential Program; moving into a home of her own with the support of her dedicated team of managers, supervisors, behavior specialists, and DSPs. Welcome, Terra – InVision is so grateful to have you with us!
Thank you for joining us in catching up with the people we support at InVision. A huge congratulations to Lori, Tara, Jacob, and Terra! Your friends at InVision are proud to celebrate your success and defining life moments with you.
